STRABAG AG, Cologne, acquires Claus Alpen bmH
Subject to approval of antitrust authority
Cologne, 20 November 2007 – STRABAG AG, Cologne, acquires the medium-sized construction company Claus Alpen mbH, Neustadt i.H., thus expanding its activities in Northern Germany. According to the STRABAG management the acquisition of a 100% stake is subject to the antitrust authority`s approval. Claus Alpen mbH has expertise in earthworking, road, promenade and harbour construction as well as in asphalt technology. Furthermore the company has an own asphalt mixing plant in Süsel.
The company`s operations offer a good strategic complementation to STRABAG`s portfolios in the region, especially when taking into account the coming Fehrmarnbelt crossing. The construction company Claus Alpen mbH has been successfully operating in the market for 75 years, employs 350 people and plans a revenue of approximately € 45m in 2007.
Key projects of Claus Alpen mbH are the new construction of BAB A 20 between the connection Genin and the border Schleswig-Holstein / Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as the development of the B 207 to the BAB A 1 (Oldenburg). Claus Alpen mbH has positioned itself as a quality company in the field of reconstruction of spa gardens and beach promenades and constructed for example the promenades Timmendorfer beach, Kellenhusen, Grömitz and Scharbeutz.
