  • Zipp, Strabag’s subsidiary in Slovakia, wins tender in bidding consortium with PORR. EUROVEA, with a total value of over 300 million euros, is the largest building construction project in Slovakia to date

21 August 2007. The Slovak STRABAG subsidiary Zipp, in a bidding consortium with PORR, today won the tender for the construction of a large part of the EUROVEA International Trade Centre. The project has a total value of more than 300 million euros. The project client is an Irish property developer BALLYMORE.

The mega-project, which is set to start at the end of August, will create a gross floor area of total 230,000 m2 including parking garage, spread over 10 separate buildings, including 239 apartments and offices, a shopping mall (~70,000 m2), a nine-screen multiplex cinema and a five-star Sheraton Hotel. EUROVEA’s total constructed area will amount to 40,000 m2. A parking garage was already built in a pre-phase. The use of Slovak subcontractors will guarantee the greatest possible increase of local employment opportunities.

Following a period of construction of 28 months, EUROVEA, situated directly on the banks of the Danube in Bratislava, will represent not only an economic boon for Bratislava, but with its recreational and leisure facilities will also enrich the Slovak capital culturally. Upon completion, EUROVEA will form its own district at the edge of historic Old Town Bratislava.
