Switzerland

STRABAG as one of the biggest european construction groups is operating in Switzerland since 1995. The first project was the construction of the Lötschberg basetunnel, a big tunnelling project.

In sucession STRABAG expanded result oriented in the important Swiss market and the following companies were acquired:
Murer AG, Erstfeld: founded in 1941, important tunnel construction company specialized in mechanic tunnel driving.
Züblin Schlittler Spaltenstein AG, Zurich: founded in 1915, important building construction and civil engineering company, specialized in construction of bridges.

These two companies appeared on the Swiss market to date under the name Züblin Murer AG. On 01.10.2008 the two companies were renamed to STRABAG AG. The aim of a sound growth in Switzerland under the name STRABAG is connected with this change of name.

The following companies in the area of Switzerland also belong to the STRABAG SE:
Eggstein AG, Lucerne: founded in 1919, company specialized in bore piles and anchor drillings.
Egolf Meyerhans AG, Weinfelden/Amriswil: founded in 1941, road- and coating company.
StraBAG AG, Zurich: founded in 1928, company specialized in road construction and coating
Frey+Götschi AG, Witta Bau AG, Affoltern and Zurich: civil engineering.

The above mentioned companies operate to date under their previous name in Switzerland.
