Waterway Construction
Our waterway construction business unit was founded about 35 years ago as a division of the Hamburg-based company Josef Möbius Bau-GmbH (since 2014: STRABAG Wasserbau GmbH). Over the years, we have contributed to the further development of existing construction methods as well as developing completely new methods and equipment.Our activities encompass the extension of artificial waterways in the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Berlin as well as along navigable rivers such as the Middle Weser in Germany or the Danube in Austria.
Working from our locations in Hamburg and Münster, we have maintained and extended about 215 km of inland waterways on behalf of Germany’s Waterways and Shipping Administration – always in line with the latest standards and procedures.
Dyking is another of our core services. Already more than 170 km of new dykes have been completed by us and we have realised heightening and reinforcing works along the North and Baltic Seas as well as inland.
For the most part, we execute our contracts on land or in water internally. This includes: pile driving, heavy earthworks, clay sealing, bank and bottom stabilisation (filter fabrics and rubble revetment).
Thanks to the specialised expertise and many years of experience of our team, backed by an extensive fleet of high-performance equipment and specialty construction methods, we are always in a position to fulfil our clients’ needs and to guarantee the professional, on-time completion of the construction works.
