ESG ratings

In addition to financial ratings, analyses and assessments of environmental, social and governance factors and indicators are also carried out by independent rating agencies as part of ESG ratings. Due to the increasing interest in our sustainability initiatives and the need for an external, objective assessment of these, proactive participation in sustainability ratings is essential. STRABAG currently has the following rating results.

Certificates

To help manage its activities in the individual subject areas – from environmental and energy management to health, safety and wellbeing to business compliance and anti-corruption – and to assess compliance with internal and external standards, STRABAG maintains an integrated management system, the effectiveness of which is regularly reviewed through internal and external audits. This system has been awarded the following certifications, among others.

ISO 14001 and EMAS
Around 93% of STRABAG units are certified in accordance with ISO 14001 or EMAS. Environmental officers and specialists from the STRABAG environmental and energy management teams ensure that a continuous improvement process is maintained and that compliance with environmental standards at locations and construction sites is monitored, documented and verified as part of standardised audits.

ISO 50001
The ISO 50001 certificate verifies compliance with STRABAG's energy management standards. ISO 50001 was rolled out in Group units, which together are responsible for around 77% of output. The aim is to expand the ISO 50001 certification of Group units in order to manage and optimise energy consumption. In addition, local energy management measures and audits cover a further 6% of output in Group countries.

ISO 45001
The STRABAG Group is certified in accordance with the ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system and is regularly audited both internally and externally. An obligation to comply with these standards is laid down in a HSW Group Directive that applies to all employees wthin the Group as well as to our external contractors. It defines Group-wide minimum standards for occupational health and safety to avoid accident and health risks in the workplace.

ISO 37001 and ISO 37301
Since 2023, all STRABAG companies with a shareholding of more than 50% worldwide have been certified in accordance with ISO 37001 (Anti-Corruption Management Systems) and ISO 37301 (Compliance management systems). This enables them to provide evidence of an established and functioning compliance management system to customers, financial institutions, authorities and other stakeholders. STRABAG is the first globally active Austrian Group to receive this type of overall certification.
